LPO Tribal Energy Outreach Specialist, Monique LaChappa (contractor) will participate in a panel on Community Engagement & Siting:
As the clean energy industry gears up for significant expansion, stakeholders will need to work together to resolve land use and siting conflicts, particularly at the local level. How do we balance the need for renewables while protecting other environmental resources? How do we ensure the community’s voice is heard? How does the IRA influence the conversation? And what are some ways that we can leverage renewable energy projects to build profits? This panel will examine the challenges that the clean energy industry faces and potential solutions for navigating siting and land use conflicts over the next decade.
Learning Objectives:
- Examine the challenges associated with land use and siting conflicts in the clean energy industry, particularly at the local level, and understand the importance of collaboration among stakeholders for resolving these issues.
- Analyze the balance between the need for renewable energy and the protection of other environmental resources, exploring strategies to address conflicting priorities and ensure sustainable development.
- Explore the role of community engagement in the siting process, considering ways to amplify the community's voice and understanding the influence of the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) on the conversation.
