The information collection supports DOE's Hydrocarbons and Geothermal Energy Office (HGEO) in gathering critical information on U.S. trade in natural gas, including liquefied natural gas (LNG). On July 30, 2025, DOE issued a Federal Register Notice inviting public comment on the proposed collection of information, the FE-746R Monthly Report of Natural Gas Imports and Exports. Comments on the data collection were due to DOE no later than September 29, 2025. On April 10, 2026, DOE issued a second Federal Register Notice finalizing the submission of the information collection and proposing no changes to the current data collection. Comments were due no later than May 11, 2026. On August 14, 2026, The Office of Management and Budget (OMB) approved the Monthly Report of Natural Gas Imports and Exports (Form FE-746R, OMB Control No. 1901-0294) without change for three years, with a new expiration date of 8/31/2029.
