DOE ordered Nortek Global HVAC, LLC to pay a $6,612 civil penalty after Nortek had manufactured and distributed in commerce in the U.S. multiple units of the noncompliant Nortek single package central air conditioning heat pump basic model # Q7RF-X24K. The Order adopted a Compromise Agreement, which reflected settlement terms between DOE and Nortek.
On March 26, 2020, DOE issued a Notice of Noncompliance Determination to Nortek finding that the Nortek single package central air conditioning heat pump basic model # Q7RF-X24K does not comply with applicable energy conservation standards based on DOE testing after Nortek self-reported that the model was noncompliant. Nortek provided DOE records showing the number of units Nortek distributed.
