
Gregory Sosson
Gregory Sosson is the Associate Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary for Field Operations for the Office of Environmental Management (EM). He is responsible for developing strategies, policy, and guidance for the 15 EM field sites in support of the EM mission. He oversees nuclear operations, safeguards and security, and technology development.
He is currently continuing to perform the function of Deputy Assistant Secretary for Safety, Security, and Quality Assurance for EM.
He also served as the Acting Manager at the Carlsbad Field Office and as the Associate Deputy Assistant Secretary for Field Operations Oversight and Chief of Nuclear Safety. He oversaw the development of strategies, policy, and guidance for safety, security, and emergency preparedness to support the EM mission.
Prior to joining the Department of Energy in 2015, he spent 28 years in the commercial nuclear industry in senior operations and engineering positions with a focus on safety and efficiency to accomplish the mission. He held an Nuclear Regulatory Commission Senior Reactor Operators license for 10 years. He also served for 10 years as a light and mechanized infantry officer in the Army Reserve and National Guard.
He holds a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Pennsylvania State University and a Master of Business Administration from Saint Joseph’s University.
