As part of its cleanup mission, the Office of Environmental Management generates hazardous waste, low-level and mixed low-level radioactive waste, and transuranic waste that must be disposed of in federal and/or commercial disposal facilities. These facilities are permitted by federal and state regulatory authorities under the Comprehensive, Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act (CERCLA), the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA), and the Atomic Energy Act. This webpage provides an interactive map and table of the current disposal facilities. Click here for information on EM’s Regulatory Compliance Program.
