WASHINGTON, D.C. — A delegation with record participation by more than 90 local leaders, elected officials and community stakeholders from Paducah, Kentucky, recently gathered at the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) headquarters in Washington, D.C., during the annual Paducah Area Chamber of Commerce D.C. Fly-In to meet with DOE Office of Environmental Management (EM) leadership.

The delegation showcased its vision to continue transforming the Paducah Site into an economic engine, turning liabilities into assets. Key EM leadership — including Assistant Secretary for Environmental Management Tim Walsh, Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary Joel Bradburne and Portsmouth Paducah Project Office Acting Manager Erik Olds — highlighted how safe, steady environmental cleanup serves as the foundation for reindustrialization, including the Paducah American Energy Hub announced earlier this year. They noted that as legacy deactivation and decommissioning and land lease efforts continue, every acre of land remediated creates vital platforms for future industry, jobs and meaningful investment for the American people.
