The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) hosts workshops, conferences, roundtables, and other meetings related to solid-state lighting (SSL) to provide a forum for information exchange and updates on this rapidly evolving technology.

DOE SSL R&D Workshop
The 17th annual Lighting R&D Workshop, held January 28-30 in San Diego, California, and co-sponsored by DOE and the Illuminating Engineering Society, convened lighting experts from across the country and abroad to discuss the complex science and technology challenges facing advanced lighting solutions today. The mix of perspectives – from universities, research labs, and companies – generated a robust and exciting exchange of ideas on lighting research progress and future R&D needs.

DOE SSL R&D Workshop
Lighting experts from across the country and abroad gathered for the 16th annual DOE Solid-State Lighting R&D Workshop, held January 29-31 in Dallas, Texas, to address the complex science and technology challenges facing SSL today. The mix of perspectives – spanning universities, labs, and companies large and small – resulted in a robust and exciting exchange of ideas on SSL research progress and future R&D needs, generating much food for thought.
