Energy Department Announces Industrial Technology Validation Program is Accepting Applications

The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) launched the Industrial Technology Validation (ITV) program to advance the commercialization of high-impact industrial technologies and position the U.S. as a global leader in industrial innovation. ITV will support technology developers and host sites in the assessment of emerging technologies designed to benefit operations, optimize performance, and improve competitiveness in the industrial sector.

"The ITV program was designed to help American industry overcome barriers and benefit from the latest in industrial technology innovations,” said Avi Shultz, the Director of DOE’s office overseeing industrial technologies. “ITV will help American companies develop, deploy, and scale innovative technologies at an unprecedented pace, to help American industry lead on the competitive stage in evolving domestic and global markets."

Through the matchmaking and funding available through this program, technology developers and industrial host sites will partner with each other, Lawrence Berkeley National Lab (LBNL), and DOE to evaluate technologies under real-world operational conditions.

Program Details

• Technology developers provide the equipment or technology to be validated.
• Host sites provide the facility where the installation will occur, manage the installation, and provide performance data from both the existing baseline system and the newly installed technology.
• Host sites and technology developers seeking project partners can provide their contact information on a public teaming partner list, accessible here.
• LBNL analyzes the data and produces a publicly available measurement and verification (M&V) report summarizing the technology’s performance.
• Applications are now open and will be accepted until January 29, 2026.

Available Funding

Awards of up to $400,000 are available through this opportunity, split between technology developer/host site teams that are accepted into the program. Award funding will be provided to both parties, with a pre-determined portion going to the host site and the technology developer. Selected teams will be required to provide a 50% cost share for a portion of the project.
