EDF Project: AEP Texas

EDP Project: AEP Texas
PROJECT STATEMENT

AEP Texas will rebuild, reconductor, or build over 2,800 miles of transmission lines, delivering customer savings and increasing grid reliability in Texas.

PROJECT SUMMARY

In July 2026, EDF closed a loan of up to $3.26 billion to AEP Texas to help finance projects that will increase power carrying capacity by 100%, decrease disruption, and deliver approximately $685 million in electricity cost savings over 30 years to 1.1 million customers in Texas. The loan is funded under President Trump’s Working Families Tax Cut and will lower American energy costs, create thousands of jobs, and increase grid reliability in Texas.

PROJECT IMPACT

The loan to AEP will finance a portfolio of approximately 100 projects to increase the power carrying capacity of existing infrastructure by 100% and build critical infrastructure, allowing new sources of baseload power to meet demand – including electricity for data centers as well as oil and gas projects in the Permian Basin – in the most cost-efficient manner. The projects are forecasted to reduce interruptions in energy to customers in Texas.

ECONOMIC IMPACT

The loan is funded under President Trump’s Working Families Tax Cut and will lower American energy costs, create an estimated 6,500 jobs, and increase grid reliability in Texas. The loan will support projects that deliver approximately $685 million in electricity cost savings over 30 years to 1.1 million customers in Texas.
