Director, Office of Safeguards Assessments

Anthony Taylor is the Director of the Office of Safeguards Assessments within the U.S. Department of Energy’s (DOE) Office of Enterprise Assessments (EA). Mr. Taylor leads and provides direction to analysts who conduct independent evaluations of the effectiveness of safeguards and security policies and programs throughout the Department in preventing the loss of special nuclear material and classified and sensitive information.
Mr. Taylor previously served as an EA Topic Team Lead and the Federal manager of the DOE Composite Adversary Team and Engagement Simulation Systems programs. He also brings a wealth of technical expertise and DOE field experience, having served at the Richland Operations Office providing Federal oversight from 2010 to 2018. Prior to entering civil service, Mr. Taylor served as a support contractor and held numerous leadership positions in the United States Marine Corps.
Mr. Taylor holds a Bachelor of Science in electrical engineering and Master of Engineering and Technology Management from Washington State University. He also completed the Leadership for a Democratic Society program at the Federal Executive Institute in 2020.
