Lindsey Kibler works at Sandia National Laboratories, where she serves as the emergency public information coordinator— specializing in emergency management, facilities, infrastructure services, safeguards and security— and covers diversity and inclusion and Sandia’s community and educational events.

After high school, she enlisted in the U.S. Army as a Public Affairs Specialist. A former staff sergeant, Lindsey was twice deployed to combat operations in Iraq and Afghanistan. She served as a crisis communicator – responding to queries from international media – and was responsible for writing casualty releases for U.S. and coalition troops. She was the communications lead for the August 6, 2011, downing of a CH-47 Chinook that killed 31 U.S. servicemen and seven Afghan soldiers. It was the single largest loss of life incident for U.S. forces since the Afghanistan war began in 2001. Lindsey was severely injured while on patrol in Afghanistan and transitioned from the military after nine years of service. She graduated from St. Martin’s University in Washington with a B.A. in Psychology.
