Bioenergy Technologies Office Other Funding Opportunities

The following are links to information on solicitations offered by the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) and other federal programs and offices that may be investing in bioenergy and related renewable technologies.

Bioenergy Small Business Solicitations

The Alternative Fuels and Feedstocks Office (AFFO), formerly known as the Bioenergy Technologies Office, has an annual Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) / Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) solicitation. The topics are generally posted in the first quarter of the fiscal year (FY) (between October and December). The exact schedule is posted on the Office of Science SBIR / STTR website.

The solicitation focuses on areas where small businesses can have an impact on the bioenergy industry. Previous topics include feedstock logistics, bio-oil conversion technology, waste-to-energy, process intensification, and biomass cookstoves. Expanded descriptions of these topics are also available at the Office of Science SBIR / STTR website.

Please visit DOE's SBIR/STTR page to learn about small business funding opportunities in other Critical Minerals and Energy Innovation (CMEI) research areas.

Biomass Research and Development Initiative (BRDI)

The Biomass Research and Development Initiative (BRDI) is a multi-agency effort to coordinate and accelerate all federal biobased products and bioenergy research and development. BRDI issues annual joint solicitations funded by the U.S. Departments of Energy and Agriculture.

CMEI Program Solicitations

CMEI's Financial Opportunities web page provides links to useful resources about financing and incentives for energy projects for the home, business, industry, utilities, and government. In addition, solicitation information may be accessed directly from certain CMEI programs and offices, as well as CMEI partnership programs.
