On January 31, 2026, the Department of Energy (DOE) issued emergency DOE Order No. 202-26-15, pursuant to section 202(c) of the Federal Power Act, to Orlando Utilities Commission (OUC). The order was issued subsequent to OUC’s application. This order authorizes certain backup generating units located within OUC’s service areas to operate up to their maximum generation output levels notwithstanding air emissions or other permit limitations. The order is in effect January 31, 2026, until 10:00 a.m. EST on February 6, 2026.
