On January 31, 2026, the Department of Energy (DOE) issued emergency DOE Order No. 202-26-14, pursuant to section 202(c) of the Federal Power Act, to the city of Lakeland, Florida, on behalf of Lakeland Electric (Lakeland). The order was issued subsequent to Lakeland’s application. In the event that Lakeland Electric determines that generation from the Specified Resources is necessary to meet the electricity demand that Lakeland Electric anticipates in its service area, Lakeland Electric can dispatch such unit or units and to order their operation only as needed to maintain reliability. The order is in effect January 31, 2026, until 10:00 a.m. EST on February 6, 2026.
