On January 31, 2026, the Department of Energy (DOE) issued emergency DOE Order No. 202-26-13, pursuant to section 202(c) of the Federal Power Act, to Florida Municipal Power Agency (FMPA). The order was issued subsequent to FMPA’s application. The order authorizes certain backup generating units located within the FMPA service areas to operate up to their maximum generation output level notwithstanding air emissions or other permit limitations. The order is in effect January 31, 2026, until 10:00 a.m. EST on February 3, 2026.
