The U.S. Department of Energy’s (DOE) CyberForce Program helps develop the next generation of cybersecurity professionals to defend and protect our nation’s critical energy systems from cyber threats and attacks.
CyberForce started in 2016 with its first cyber defense competition, to provide students with hands-on cybersecurity experience through interactive, energy-focused scenarios. Eight teams competed in the first competition, and CyberForce grew to more than one hundred teams in 2019, before going virtual in 2020 and 2021.
In 2021, the CyberForce Program expanded to include two Conquer the Hill competitions, a webinar series, a virtual career fair, and an online workforce portal – in addition to the primary CyberForce Competition. The expansion reflects the Biden Administration’s commitment to building a highly capable future cyber workforce.
