WASHINGTON, D.C. — Tomorrow, Thursday, July 26, 2018, U.S. Secretary of Energy Rick Perry will visit Dominion Energy’s Cove Point LNG Export Facility in Lusby, MD. He will tour the facility, provide remarks, and participate in the ribbon-cutting ceremony. After these events, Secretary Perry will hold a brief media availability.
The completion of the Cove Point LNG export expansion project makes it just the second LNG export facility in the continental United States, accompanying Sabine Pass in Louisiana. These two facilities ship American LNG to 30 nations on five continents, and have increased U.S. exports of LNG from 0.5 billion cubic feet per day (Bcf/d) in 2016 to 1.94 Bcf/d in 2017 – with a combined export capacity of 3.6 Bcf/d. To further build on this expansion and growth, another four U.S. export projects are underway across the nation and will provide 11 billion cubic feet per day of LNG export capacity.
