Charles (Chuck) Comeau was appointed in October 2025 as Senior Technical Advisor for the U.S. Department of Energy, Savannah River Operations Office (DOE-SROO) in Aiken, South Carolina. As senior technical advisor, he is responsible to the Manager, DOE-SROO, for the monitoring, oversight, and completion of Environmental Management (EM) capital asset construction projects and activities utilizing DOE Order 413.3B, assisting significant D&D projects as assigned, and the training and qualification of federal project directors. In addition, Mr. Comeau is also responsible as Federal Project Director to the Assistant Secretary, Office of Environmental Management (EM-1) for project construction, testing, commissioning, and startup of the Saltstone Disposal Units 10 through 12 project at Savannah River Site (SRS) and for the Hoisting Capability project at the Carlsbad Field Office (CBFO) in Carlsbad, New Mexico.
Prior to his current position, Mr. Comeau served as the Director, Office of Programs and Project Management (OPPM) and as Senior Program Manager in the Office of Assistant Manager for Waste Disposition (AMWD). His past responsibilities included Federal Project Director for the SDU 8/9 project, Deputy Federal Project Director for the SDU6 and SDU7 projects, oversight of the DOE-SROO solid waste program, and DOE-SROO representative to the Low-Level Waste Disposal Facility Federal Review Group (LFRG).
Prior to his SRS career, Mr. Comeau was a project manager with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Jacksonville District. There he was responsible for multiple projects supporting the Comprehensive Everglades Restoration Plan enacted by the U.S. Congress for the restoration of the Everglades ecosystem in southern Florida. During his time with USACE, Mr. Comeau deployed multiple times to Iraq and Afghanistan in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom.
Mr. Comeau has more than 25 years of experience in program and project management. While much of his career has been with the U. S. Department of Defense, he has also held several positions within the private sector and served as an officer in the U.S. Navy.
Mr. Comeau holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Mining Engineering from the University of Missouri and a Master’s in Business Administration from the University of Florida. Mr. Comeau and his wife have three children and reside in Aiken, South Carolina.
