Early Career Researchers

$138M for 91 Awards 

A combined $138 million will be awarded to 91 early career scientists at 50 universities and 12 DOE national laboratories across the country. Research covers a wide range of topics including artificial intelligence, fusion energy, quantum, and more.

Quantum Computing Research

$65M for 10 Projects

Funding of $65 million will be awarded for 10 projects comprising a total of 38 separate awards targeting software, control systems, and algorithmic advancements. The research will demonstrate quantum computing’s utility for scientific research problems in DOE’s mission space by improving all levels of the software stack.

Artificial Intelligence for Scientific Research

$68M for 11 Projects

The funded projects will go to 11 multi-institution projects comprising 43 awards. The research will develop new ways to create foundation models, a key building block of Artificial Intelligence. Those models will be used in computational science, to automate workflow in laboratories, to accelerate scientific programming, and more.
