Oak Ridge Site Specific Advisory Board Welcomes Avi Duke as a Student Representative for 2019-2020.

The Oak Ridge Site Specific Advisory Board (ORSSAB) welcomes Avi Duke as a new student representative to the board. She will serve on the board for a one-year term.
ORSSAB is a federally chartered citizens’ panel that provides recommendations to the U.S. Department of Energy’s (DOE) Oak Ridge Office of Environmental Management, which is responsible for the cleanup of the Oak Ridge Reservation. Each year the board seats non-voting student representatives from area high schools to participate and share the viewpoints of local students on environmental issues.
Avi is a rising senior at Oak Ridge High School, where she is involved in a variety of activities. She is a co-founder and member of Wildcats for Change at Oak Ridge High school, a group focused on promoting political activism in students. Additionally, she is an officer in Oak Ridge High School’s philosophy club and competes in the Tennessee High School Ethics Bowl.
Avi is active in her community, where she is involved in the Youth Leadership Oak Ridge Program and Teens for Contact. She currently dances competitively at Creative Edge Dance Studio in Oak Ridge and works as an assistant cheer coach for Champion Force Athletics.
She enjoys reading and is especially passionate about philosophy, environmental conservation and history.
ORSSAB meets the second Wednesday of most months at 6 p.m. at the DOE Information Center located at 1 Science.gov Way in Oak Ridge, Tennessee.
