In June 2011, the U.S. Department of Energy Geothermal Technologies Office (GTO) (formerly Geothermal Technologies Program) held their Annual Peer Review Meeting in Bethesda, Maryland.
In 2011 year, GTO reviewed more projects in its history than ever before – approximately 170. The purpose of the review was to evaluate DOE-funded projects for their contribution to the mission and goals of the office, and to assess progress made against stated objectives. Principal Investigators, representing a total DOE funding of over $350 million, came together to disseminate information, progress and results. In addition to the formal review, this event was an excellent opportunity for the geothermal community, both funded researchers and stakeholder, to share ideas and solutions to address the challenges facing the geothermal industry.
