Idaho National Laboratory’s (INL) mission is to ensure the nation’s energy security with safe, competitive, and sustainable energy systems and unique national and homeland security capabilities. To support these activities, INL operates numerous laboratories, reactors, test facilities, waste storage facilities, and support facilities.

The Idaho Cleanup Project (ICP) is a multi-year cleanup effort involving decommissioning and dismantlement of over 200 excess environmental management facilities. The scope includes D&D of three reactors, management of spent nuclear fuel, treatment and disposal of sodium-bearing waste, disposal of tank farm facility waste tanks, and remediation of the Subsurface Disposal Area at the Radioactive Waste Management Complex.
