The objective is to conceptualize hybrid power systems technology, simulate such concepts experimentally, and analyze their steady and transient responses in order to demonstrate critical operability issues inherent in hybrid fuel cell turbine systems. The Hyper facility is designed to explore dynamic operation of hybrid power systems composed of many component technologies, including the gasifier, fuel cell, internal combustion engine, and turbomachinery. A cyber physical approach is taken to emulate complex hybrid configurations including fuel processing and thermal integration in systems such as Integrated Gasification Fuel Cell.
