August 7, 2026The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) is proposing to provide federal funding to the University of Arizona (UA) to design, develop, and implement agrivoltaic treatments that would be implemented at industrial-scale solar facilities. This project (award number DE-EE0010438) received a NEPA determination (GFO-0010438-001, CX A9, A11, and B3.1) on July 12th, 2023.
Project efforts under this review included the design, development, and implementation of an agrivoltaic project at a utility-scale photovoltaic (PV) facility. It also included the examination of food production practices, native grass mixes, and climate smart crops and their interaction with PV installations within a laboratory setting.
