June 2026 Highlights
- Asia was the largest regional importer of U.S. LNG, receiving 202 billion cubic feet in June 2026, the first time Asia has exceeded Europe since August 2024.
- Egypt was the largest single‑country importer, receiving 86 billion cubic feet of U.S. LNG in June 2026, up from approximately 26 billion cubic feet in June 2025.
By the Numbers: June 2026
824.1 billion cubic feet of natural gas was exported from the United States and 234.8 billion cubic feet was imported. This resulted in 589.3 billion cubic feet of net exports.
U.S. LNG Exports
In June 2026, exports of U.S.-sourced natural gas as LNG were521.1 billion cubic feet (Bcf), or 17.4 Bcf/d, This amount represented 63.2 percent of total U.S. natural gas exports. These U.S. LNG exports reached 37 countries across multiple regions including Europe, Asia, Africa, and Latin America and the Caribbean. Regional distribution included:
- Asia: 201.9 billion cubic feet (38.7 percent)
- Europe: 185.8 billion cubic feet (35.7 percent)
- Africa: 88.1 billion cubic feet (16.9 percent)
- Latin America and the Caribbean: 45.3 billion cubic feet (8.7 percent)
Additional highlights:
- In June 2026, U.S. LNG exports increased 3.6 percent from May 2026
- LNG exports increased 28.3 percent from June 2025
- 84.9 percent of LNG exports went to non‑free trade agreement (NFTA) countries
- 15.1 percent went to free trade agreement (FTA) countries
Top LNG Destinations for June 2026
U.S. LNG exports to the top five destination countries accounted for 50.8 percent of total LNG exports:
- Egypt: 86.0 billion cubic feet (16.5 percent)
- Italy: 51.6 billion cubic feet (9.9 percent)
- South Korea: 46.9 billion cubic feet (9.0 percent)
- India: 46.2 billion cubic feet (8.9 percent)
- Netherlands: 33.7 billion cubic feet (6.5 percent)
Pipeline and Truck Trade with Mexico for June 2026
Exports of natural gas via pipeline and truck to Mexico totaled 228.7 billion cubic feet while imports from Mexico were less than 0.1 Bcf, resulting in 228.7 billion cubic feet of net exports. This represented a 2.0 percent increase compared to May 2026 and a 4.6 percent increase compared to June 2025
Pipeline and Truck Trade with Canada for June 2026
Exports of natural gas via pipeline and truck to Canada totaled 74.4 billion cubic feet of natural gas and imports were 234.4 billion cubic feet, resulting in 160.1 billion cubic feet of net imports from Canada. This represented a 12.7 percent increase compared to May 2026 and a 14.0 percent decrease compared to June 2025.
