April 16, 2026This project involves the construction and operation of a small-scale pilot facility (SN-I) by Standard Nuclear (SN) at the Idaho National Laboratory (INL) site. The SN-I facility supports the U.S. Department of Energy’s (DOE) Fuel Line Pilot Program and Executive Order 14301, which aims to accelerate the deployment of advanced nuclear power through private-sector leadership. The facility will manufacture tri-structural isotropic (TRISO) fuel to meet the needs of advanced reactor demonstrations.
The purpose of this revision is to update the waste specific roles and responsibilities. Standard Nuclear may utilize INL's waste management program and/or create contracts with waste companies to coordinate the disposal of their own waste during construction and operations. This potentially includes waste from: construction, operations, industrial wastewater, low-level, and/or radiological waste streams.
