The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the South Carolina Department of Environmental Services approved soil vapor extraction operations to be discontinued at the A-Area Burning/Rubble Pits (731-A, -1A) and Rubble Pit (731-2A) (ABRP) Trench Subunit and the Miscellaneous Chemical Basin (7361-4A) (MCB) Vadose Zone Subunit. After receipt of regulatory approval, sampling, data collection, operations, and maintenance of the ABRP/MCB MicroBlowers (MBs) and BaroBalls (BBs) ceased. The MBs and BBs were disconnected and plugged in Fiscal Year (FY) 2026 and they will be abandoned in FY2027.
