Madeleine Bugel is the Deputy Assistant Secretary for National Battery Strategy at the U.S. Department of Energy's (DOE) Office of Critical Minerals and Energy Innovation (CMEI). In this role, she implements CMEI’s strategy for establishing a secure and resilient battery supply chain.
In 2025, Bugel joined DOE as senior advisor for the Office of Manufacturing and Energy Supply Chains, now the Office of Manufacturing Deployment. Previously, Bugel served as director of government relations for the National Electrical Manufacturers Association, where she focused on policy, domestic manufacturing, and supply chain security. Bugel earned her bachelor’s degree from American University.
