Continued Operation of the Los Alamos National Laboratory, New Mexico

The National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA), a semi-autonomous agency within the Department of Energy (DOE), issued a Record of Decision (ROD) based on the Final Site-Wide Environmental Impact Statement for Continued Operation of the Los Alamos National Laboratory (Final LANL SWEIS) (DOE/EIS-0552).

NNSA has concluded that the Expanded Operations Alternative would best fulfill its statutory missions and responsibilities. Therefore, NNSA has decided to fully implement the Expanded Operations Alternative. This decision would include DOE’s continued legacy cleanup and environmental remediation of the LANL site in compliance with the 2016 Consent Order, as modified.
