Funding will support the project team's small-scale research and development of solvent- and heat-resistance carbon-doped titanium oxide (CDTO) membranes for organic solvent recovery which would offer a transformative solution for cleaner, more cost-effective chemical production. Specifically, the project team will (1) develop, test, and optimize the CDTO membranes to achieve precise molecular separation, (2) evaluate scalable fabrication methods, (3) assess the longevity and stability of CDTO membranes under industrial conditions; and (4) conduct a techno-economic analysis and life cycle assessment.
