Dave Beck

Dave Beck serves as NNSA’s Deputy Administrator for Defense Programs. In this role he is responsible for maintaining the safety, security, and reliability of the U.S. nuclear weapons stockpile.

Prior to this position, Mr. Beck served as the Vice President of Strategic Initiatives for Consolidated Nuclear Security, LLC (CNS), which is responsible for the management and operation of the Y-12 National Security Complex in Oak Ridge, Tennessee. In this position, he oversaw strategic opportunities and planning for the company. At CNS, Mr. Beck also served as Vice President of Program Integration—providing planning, budgeting, and program management to CNS as it managed and operated the Pantex Plant in Amarillo, Texas, and Y-12.

Previously, Mr. Beck served as Deputy Principal Associate Director of Weapons Programs at Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL). Prior to this position, he was LANL’s Associate Director of Weapons Engineering and Manufacturing. At LANL, Mr. Beck managed a $600 million annual budget and more than 2,300 employees and contractors. He was responsible for weapons engineering functions, tritium operations, plutonium manufacturing operations, as well as liquid and solid waste operations.

Before joining LANL, Mr. Beck served as NNSA Assistant Deputy Administrator for Military Applications and Stockpile Operations, which entailed program management oversight of directed stockpile work. In this post, he managed production operations at seven of the eight NNSA sites with more than 12,000 contractor employees and a $2.5 billion annual budget for operations.

Mr. Beck holds a B.S. in metallurgy from The Pennsylvania State University, an MBA from the University of Tennessee, and has completed advanced leadership training through executive development programs at Duke University and the University of Chicago.
