This Fourth Amended Determination follows a change to field testing locations and project partners to support the project team's small-scale research and development activities to finalize, test, and validate their full-scale 160 kilowatt (kW) tidal turbine, currently in development under the Submarine Hydrokinetic and Riverine Kilo-Megawatt Systems (SHARKS) program.

November 18, 2025This Fourth Amended Determination follows a change to field testing locations and project partners to support the project team's small-scale research and development activities to finalize, test, and validate their full-scale 160 kilowatt (kW) tidal turbine, currently in development under the Submarine Hydrokinetic and Riverine Kilo-Megawatt Systems (SHARKS) program. Specifically, the project team will (1) continue developing, testing, and refining turbine design, (2) conduct moored testing of the turbine, and (3) apply test results to final turbine design for testing. If successful, the project will result in low-cost ocean-driven hydraulic energy production, ultimately reducing dependence on foreign energy sources, thereby increasing U.S. energy security.
