October 9, 2025The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) is proposing to provide federal funding to the Pacific Ocean Energy Trust (POET) to administer the Testing and Access for Marine Energy Research (TEAMER) program.
Any facility that requests to join the network or modify their existing support capabilities is subject to additional NEPA review in addition to a separate review conducted by POET and the Technical Board (TB). The facility identified by POET is: 1. Pacific Northwest National Laboratory's Materials Aging and Detection Science (MAaD Science) Laboratory, Richland, Washington. The MAaD Science Lab would provide technical support through laboratory analysis of polymer and composite materials and their properties.
Project activities would occur in purpose-built facilities and would be consistent with their use. DOE has considered the scale, duration, and nature of proposed activities to determine potential impacts on resources, including those of an ecological, historical, cultural, and socioeconomic nature. DOE does not anticipate impacts on these resources which would be considered significant or require DOE to consult with other agencies or stakeholders.
