Rachael Overbey serves as the Special Assistant and Acting Director of External Affairs for the Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy (EERE) within the U.S. Department of Energy. In these roles, Overbey provides strategic counsel to leadership and coordinates initiatives that advance the office’s priorities. She also serves as a liaison with the White House, Congress, and a range of external stakeholders, helping to align communication and strategy.
Overbey has more than 20 years of experience in the energy sector. Her expertise spans the full lifecycle of energy projects—from planning and permitting to development, compliance, asset management, acquisitions, and divestitures. She has served on various committees and boards, including state energy associations, where she drove key regulatory initiatives to advance energy innovation.
