The Department of Energy (DOE) is developing the DOE Enterprise Data Platform leveraging Databricks to establish a standardized, modular, and interconnected data infrastructure across its vast enterprise. This initiative aims to significantly improve data accessibility, interoperability, and reusability for various DOE programs, national laboratories, and their collaborators. By implementing common data formats, protocols, and metadata schemes, the platform ensures consistency and enables seamless data exchange between diverse systems. Its design, which conceptualizes data components as easily combinable "bricks," promotes the efficient reuse of existing datasets and tools, thereby accelerating scientific discovery, enhancing operational efficiency, and supporting robust data-driven decision-making within the energy sector.
