On June 24, 2025, the Department of Energy (DOE) issued emergency order No. 202-25-5, pursuant to section 202(c) of the Federal Power Act, to Duke Energy Carolinas authorizing specific electric generating units (specified resources) located within the Duke Energy Carolinas area to operate at their maximum generation output levels due to ongoing extreme weather conditions and to preserve the reliability of bulk electric power system. The order is in effect until 10:00 PM ET on June 25, 2025.
