Eric Mahroum was appointed by President Donald Trump in January 2025 to serve as the Director of the Office of State and Community Energy Programs (SCEP) at the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE). This marks his second appointment under the Trump administration, having previously served in 2017 as Senior Advisor for the Office of Economic Impact and Diversity. In this role, he leveraged his experience within the Department to empower stakeholders, promote innovation, and connect entrepreneurs with America’s dynamic energy sector.

In 2019, Eric was appointed to the White House Faith & Opportunity Initiative as the Director for the Department of Energy, following President Trump’s Executive Order 13831 establishing the initiative. The following year, in 2020, he transitioned to the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) before returning home to Fort Worth.

A proud fourth-generation Texan, Eric has been a National Leadership Advisory Board Member for the American Lebanese Chamber of Commerce since 2018 as well as a member of the Texas Advisory Committee for the U.S. Global Leadership Coalition. In 2022, he was appointed to the Interstate Oil and Gas Compact Commission by Texas Railroad Commission Chairman Wayne Christian, serving on both the Public, Coastal & Tribal Lands Committee, and the Public Outreach Committee.

From 2021 to 2025, Eric was President of Mahroum Communications, LLC. He studied Business Administration at American Intercontinental University. Eric is married to his elementary school sweetheart, is a proud father of two daughters, and calls Houston home.
