Last week, March 11-March 14, the Office of Environment, Health, Safety and Security (EHSS) was well represented at the Waste Management (WM) Symposia 2024 in Phoenix, Arizona. This year, WM Symposia celebrated their 50th anniversary with the theme: “Marking 50 years: Proud of our Past, Poised for the Future” and had over 3000 attendees from almost 30 countries “to discuss and share ideas on many crosscutting topics including: robotic handling, remote systems, new technologies, radioactive and hazardous waste characterization, treatment storage, packaging, transportation, and disposal, engineering design and construction, environmental laboratories, decontamination, decommissioning, and environmental remediation – as well as emerging topics such as small modular reactors, clean energy, Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM)” .
We want to express our appreciation to the exceptional EHSS team for their time, efforts, and PRIDE to make this year’s attendance and participation at the symposia a success. A special shout out to the advance team who arrived a day early to set up (and staffed) our EHSS booth and to those who served as a panelist, session co-chair, and/or attendee to the many incredible sessions. EHSS is looking forward to the WM Symposia in 2025.
