Keishaa Austin is the Associate Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary of the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE)’s Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy. Previously, she was the Principal Deputy Director of the Office of State and Community Energy Programs (SCEP) and served as the Director of External Engagement of the Office of the Under Secretary for Infrastructure at DOE. 

Keishaa brings to DOE an extensive background in energy and communications. She served as a senior public utilities regulatory analyst in grid planning and reliability at the California Public Utilities Commission, and a program analyst at the Office of the People’s Counsel for the District of Columbia. She has also held roles with media and entertainment companies including Urban One, BET Networks and Capitol Music Group. Keishaa earned her law degree at Texas Southern University and her bachelor’s degree from Howard University.
