DOE’s National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) has requested concept papers from applicants interested in submitting a full proposal under the planned 2024 Competitiveness Improvement Project (CIP) solicitation. Concept papers are optional but will provide an opportunity for potential CIP applicants to briefly describe project ideas to NREL staff and receive prompt feedback on concepts.

Those interested should use the CIP word template to draft concept papers for the upcoming 2024 CIP solicitation and submit via the online portal prior to the Jan. 26, 2024, deadline.

CIP awards cost-shared subcontracts and technical support to manufacturers of wind turbines with less than one megawatt in capacity to optimize designs, reduce costs, increase energy production, and enhance grid reliability and resilience.
