Watch the Highlight Video!

The AlgaePrize competition paves the way for the next generation of bioeconomy professionals by generating technologies that will ultimately support the nation’s biofuel research efforts and commercial algae value chain. Watch the AlgaePrize highlight video to learn how 15 finalist student teams converged at the inaugural competition over three days in April 2023 for one shared goal: proving the power of algae to help solve the energy, food, economic, and climate challenges facing our world today.

This is the second iteration of the AlgaePrize competition, which was launched in January 2022, with 307 individual competitors from 64 student teams. The AlgaePrize 2023 - 2025 competition is now part of DOE’s American-Made Challenges, a series of unique prize competitions designed to incentivize and reenergize American innovation in the energy marketplace.
