Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Technologies Office Postdoctoral Recognition Award: 2023

Read about the 2023 winners, runners up, and honorable mention recipients of the Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Technologies Office (HFTO) Postdoctoral Recognition Award.

Winner

Audrey Taylor Headshot

Audrey Taylor, National Renewable Energy Laboratory

This award recognizes Dr. Audrey Taylor for her work in the mitigation and diagnosis of pin-hole formation in proton-exchange membrane fuel cells (PEMFCs). At the National Renewable Energy Laboratory, her work has focused on early onset failures of PEMFCs within the Million Mile Fuel Cell Truck Consortium (M2FCT). Taylor has been successful in developing fabrication methodology to mitigate pin-holes and to enhance the durability of PEMFCs. Taylor has 12 peer-reviewed publications and has received multiple awards for her research, development, and demonstration (RD&D) efforts.

Runners Up

Jason Lee Headshot

Jason Keonhag Lee, Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory

This award recognizes Dr. Jason Lee for his work in advanced porous-transport-layer interface design for proton exchange membrane (PEM) electrolyzers. Lee has developed a novel concept of ionomer-free and recyclable porous transport electrode for PEM electrolyzers, allowing for recycle and reuse of components for PEM electrolysis. Lee has six peer-reviewed publications, has received numerous awards for his RD&D efforts, and has one patent pending.
