DOE ordered Lennox Industries, Inc. ("Lennox") to pay a $587,500 civil penalty after Lennox had manufactured and distributed in commerce in the U.S. multiple units of the noncompliant commercial package air conditioner model KCB092S4BN1Y. The Order adopted a Compromise Agreement, which reflected settlement terms between DOE and Lennox.
On December 29, 2021, DOE issued a Notice of Noncompliance Determination to Lennox finding that the commercial air conditioner basic model # KCB092S4BN1Y does not comply with applicable energy conservation standards based on DOE testing. Lennox provided DOE records showing the number of units Lennox distributed.
