DOE Research Studies are directed by either the Secretary of Energy or by Congress and cover a variety of areas. The following reports and studies are a representation of studies conducted by the Office:
- #FindYourState | Natural Gas Flaring and Venting Regulations Fact Sheets - There are 33 fact sheets, one for each natural gas-producing state and the U.S. Federal Offshore, explaining state-level flaring and venting regulations.
- U.S. Oil and Natural Gas: Providing Energy Security and Supporting Our Quality of Life - This report focuses on the important benefits this increased supply of domestically produced energy, and the key advances in oil and natural gas production technology that made this growth possible.
- Flaring and Venting Reduction Research & Development Activities - A report to Congress on the development of modular natural gas conversion technologies that will provide additional options for converting gas that would otherwise be flared or vented into value-added products, reducing greenhouse gas emissions in the field.
- Used Oil Management and Beneficial Reuse Report to Congress - A report to Congress that examines the status of the used oil industry and recommendations for increasing the beneficial reuse of used oils and lubricants.
- Crude Oil Characterization Study Report to Congress - A report that summarizes the Crude Oil Characterization Research Study administered by the DOE & PHMSA.
