The Office of Policy and Strategic Planning coordinates Strategic Partnership Projects (SPP) that deliver scientific, technical, and engineering innovation and strengthen the national security mission. SPP advances critical national security partnerships with interagency, industry, academia, and local, state, and foreign governments that leverage enterprise capabilities to strengthen U.S. security and competitiveness. Through industry, government, and non-governmental partnerships, NNSA advances world class science, technology, and engineering.
NNSA’s national laboratories, plants, and sites conduct work for other Federal agencies and non-Federal customers on a 100% reimbursable basis.
Science, technology, and engineering partnership projects include:
- Advanced materials
- Artificial intelligence
- Bio-threat and defense
- Cyber technology
- Collection and linguistics services
- High-reliability engineering
- Microelectronics fabrication and packaging services
- Modeling, simulation, and experiment
- Quantum computing
- Reverse engineering services of mechanical, electrical, and chemical products
- Safety, risk, and vulnerability analysis
- Sensors, signatures, and platforms
Strategic Partnership Projects
- Provide access to highly specialized and unique NNSA facilities, services, equipment, and technical expertise, unavailable elsewhere.
- Increase opportunities between NNSA facilities and U.S. industry for research, development, and commercialization.
- Assist U.S. industry and organizations in strengthening their technology base and improving their position globally.
- Assist Federal agencies and non-Federal organizations in accomplishing goals that may not otherwise be attainable.
