June 28, 2021Over the last three years, most of the battery cells and packs used in new U.S. light-duty plug-in electric vehicles (PEVs) were produced in the United States. Each plug-in electric vehicle has a battery pack made up of individual battery cells, and the cell manufacturer may differ from the manufacturer that combines the cells to form the battery pack. Since 2018, 70% of battery cell capacity and 87% of battery pack capacity produced for U.S. PEVs came from the United States
