Hayes Jones is the director of the U.S. Department of Energy’s (DOE’s) Building Technologies Office (BTO). BTO drives building technology innovation that empowers Americans to make affordable energy choices, enhances U.S. global competitiveness, and supports energy reliability.
Previously, Jones served as the program manager for BTO’s Commercial Buildings Integration (CBI) team. The CBI team worked to develop and demonstrate replicable and scalable energy- and cost-saving building technologies, collaborating with commercial building owners and operators to address barriers to their adoption.
Before joining BTO, Jones served as the program manager for Resilience, Security, and Agency Engagement in DOE’s Federal Energy Management Program. In this role, she led a team that developed resources to secure facility control systems and created a systematic approach to assess risks and prioritize solutions.
Jones has held various roles at DOE in program management, operations, budget, and communications.
