Hayes Jones currently serves as the deputy director for the Building Technologies Office (BTO). BTO catalyzes innovation in our nation’s buildings and improves Americans’ lives by reducing energy bills, strengthening U.S. economic competitiveness, and increasing the reliability and security of building infrastructure and energy systems.
Previously, Jones served as the program manager for the Commercial Buildings Integration (CBI) team. The CBI team works to develop and demonstrate replicable and scalable energy-efficiency solutions by working closely with commercial building owners and operators to identify barriers to technology adoption and develop turnkey solutions.
Before joining BTO, Jones served as the program manager for Resilience, Security and Agency Engagement for the U.S. Department of Energy’s (DOE’s) Federal Energy Management Program. In this role, she led a team focused on developing resources for securing facility control systems, as well as a systematic approach to assess risks to current infrastructure and prioritize solutions for implementation.
Overall, Jones has been with DOE for 16 years, serving in various roles in program management, operations, budget, and communications. She holds master's and bachelor's degrees from Duke University.
