Cincinnati -- The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) today issued a Draft Request for Proposal
(RFP) for a new contract to provide for the management and operation of the Savannah River
Site (SRS). The SRS Operations (Post FY 2018) Management and Operating (M&O) Contract is
estimated to be worth a total of approximately $15 billion over a period of up to 10 years,
including option periods. The current M&O contract at Savannah River is held by Savannah
River Nuclear Solutions, LLC, and is set to expire July 31, 2019.

DOE anticipates awarding a new contract that primarily includes cost-plus-award-fee contract
line items. The Draft RFP provides for full and open competition and includes requirements for
meaningful work to be performed by small businesses.

The purpose of the Draft RFP is to solicit input from interested parties to assist DOE in
developing a Final RFP for this procurement. DOE invites all interested parties to thoroughly
examine the Draft RFP and the accompanying procurement website and to submit comments to
DOE.

Additionally, DOE plans to conduct a Pre-Solicitation Conference, including a Site tour, One-on-One
meetings and Community Day with interested parties the week of September 10,
2018. Registration information is available via the procurement website.

This contract will provide the services DOE needs to continue to eliminate or minimize nuclear
materials, spent nuclear fuel, and waste through safe stabilization, treatment, and/or disposition;
reduce the costs of continuing operations and surveillance and maintenance; operate the
Savannah River National Laboratory; support National Nuclear Security Administration
programs in the areas of nuclear weapons stockpile programs and nonproliferation activities; and
continue the decommissioning of facilities and remediating surface water, groundwater and
contaminated soils consistent with regulatory agreements and permits.
