DOE's Office of Policy and International Affairs and China's Ministry of Science and Technology convened a 3-day workshop at Argonne National Laboratory that brought together more than 100 U.S. and Chinese experts from government, industry, and academia to discuss progress made in the electric vehicle industry to date and opportunities for increased collaboration. The workshop was held in support of the U.S.-China Electric Vehicles Initiative announced by President Obama and China's President Hu Jintao in 2009. Participants engaged in three concurrent roundtables on battery technology roadmapping, battery test procedures, and vehicle demonstrations and infrastructure.
