The City of Winston, Oregon proposes to use $240,000 of Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant (EECBG) funding towards the total cost of a proposed wastewater pumping retrofit project at a sewer lift station. The current sewer lift station design incorporates three 110 horsepower (HP) pumps which currently do not work well at low flows, where pumps are running constantly and against throttling valves. The proposed project would replace one of the 110 HP pumps with a 25 HP pump (85 HP reduction), variable frequency drive control, new control strategy, and re-pipe with a 6" discharge pipe for proper velocity at low flows; the existing old 12" main will be repiped at the same time.
